Little bit of magic

I received a 1.5ml sample. Very difficult to open and not waste any. I used during the recent UK 90+ ° heatwave. Felt very nice, not sticky or greasy. Barely enough to use on both halves of head /hair length. Smells nice. Not much coverage to really test and review. My 3b hair needs hydration so teeny sample bubble a bit underwhelming.

Shiny hair!

I’m genuinely impressed

Softens hair

I received 2 small samples to try. Although you dont need a lot of this product, I do have very ling, frizzy hair, so did need to use both samples at the same time. It definitely helped soften my hair and tame down frizz and flyaways

The best oil by far

This is the best hair oil I've ever tried. My hair is difficult. Thick, wavy, dry, hates humidity. This oil keeps my hair soft, smooth and in great condition. I wouldn't use anything else.

Nice Hair Oil

I received this as a free sample (thank you), but the sample was very small so I could only use it a couple of times and cant comment on how much better my hair would be with longer term use. But I did like this oil, it had a lovely delicate almost floral aroma (I normally dont like scented products but this was nice and light) and left a good shine on my hair.

I used this oil for one week. Weather had been orribile, dump and rainy. Normally my head absorbs humidity look messy. I have long, fair, thin wavy hair hair with balayage. After washing as usual I applied two-3 generous drops on lengths. It defined the hair without weight down or without making them greasy. It smell good too. I am actually happy with the performance and will consider buying a bootle now tha I used the sample.

Silk hair

I’ve been using Kérastase L’Huile Originale and it’s a luxury hair oil that gives my hair shine, smoothness, and helps control frizz without feeling heavy (as long as I don’t use too much). It makes my hair look instantly softer, smoother, and more polished. I really notice the difference in how glossy and “salon-finished” my hair looks after applying it. A small amount goes a long way, so the bottle lasts a while. It also has a strong, luxurious fragrance that feels very salon-like. However, it is quite expensive, and if I overapply it, it can make my hair look a bit greasy, especially around the finer sections. It’s also important to mention that it doesn’t really repair damaged hair — it mainly improves the appearance and texture. Overall, I think it works best for dry, frizzy, thick, or color-treated hair, especially if the goal is smooth, shiny, and healthy-looking hair.

Good, but I needed more than I expected

Kérastase kindly sent me two samples of their Elixir Ultime hair oil to try 😍. It contains a blend of camellia, marula, and argan oils, and claims to add softness, 48-hour shine, and 4 days of anti-frizz. My hair loves argan oil, so I was keen to give this a go. You can use it on the mid-lengths and ends either as a pre-wash treatment, styling heat protection, or as a finishing oil. I tried one sample as a pre-wash treatment and the other on my towel-dried hair. My Hair Profile: Mid-back length, thick, curly (a mix of 3a curls and strong 💪 2c waves) with a tendency to frizz at the slightest opportunity, 20–30% grey, mostly dyed, and menopausal. So yeah, just a little (!!!) thirsty 🚰. Pre-Wash Treatment: I needed the whole 2ml sample for this, and to be honest, it could have done with a bit more. It has a light fragrance on application, but I don't think the scent is anything I would notice much on my hair later on. I could feel my hair softening straight away, and after washing, it was definitely **MUCH** softer. After 24 hours, my mid-lengths were still quite soft, but my ends were crisping up again. Air-Drying Hair: This is my method of choice at the moment, and the website suggested that I should add a small amount to damp hair to protect it from frizz. I tried the second sample like this (before I did the pre-wash mentioned above) and was a little disappointed, as I had expected more frizz reduction. It didn't do the job that well, and unfortunately, I had to have a ponytail day. The instructions advised a few drops, but I suspect I actually needed a lot more. Verdict: Used as a pre-wash, it definitely made my hair noticeably softer and shinier. Would I recommend it? DEFINITELY, but with a caveat. I love the fact that it's available in a refillable bottle, but it's still not cheap. I used 2ml on my hair and probably needed at least 2.5ml. I suspect those with fine hair would use a lot less; for me, though, that means only about 30 treatments out of the 75ml bottle. So, if your finances can easily stretch to it, I would go for it. But if you have thick hair and a tight budget... there are probably cheaper hair oils out there that I would try first.

New shiny hair

Nice softness but….

I received a sample and tried it on wet hair. My hair is quite fine and I was keen to make it look nicer than it usually does, since it becomes quite flat after a while. After putting two drops of the oil on, it was super soft as a result but the oil made it very lank and it looked as if it needed washing. Disappointed, to be honest

For how much this should cost, I wasn’t overly impressed but I have only used it once! It didn’t smell of much, and didn’t make my hair feel nice, HOWEVER, it did keep my hair together, in style more and not as fly away.

Good but not miraculous

Kérastase L’Huile Originale is a decent finishing oil, especially if your hair is already in fairly good condition and just needs extra softness, shine and smoother ends. The formula is led by lightweight emollients and silicones like isododecane, dimethicone and dimethiconol, so its main strength is cosmetic smoothing: it helps the hair feel silkier, reduces roughness, adds slip and gives a glossy finish. It also contains several oils, including camellia, argan, marula, corn germ, pracaxi and camelina seed oil, which can help soften the hair and improve the feel of dry lengths. It is not a miracle repair product, though. Because this is mostly a smoothing and shine product rather than a true bond-repair or protein treatment, it will not reverse serious breakage, bleach damage or very compromised hair structure. If your hair is quite damaged, it may not even make it look better temporarily, and it will not do much beyond coating and potentially softening the surface. For hair that is in fairly good condition, slightly dry, frizzy or dull, it should work well as a finishing oil. Verdict: A good luxury hair oil for softness, shine and a polished finish, but not a deep repair treatment. Best for hair that needs smoothing and glow rather than major damage rescue.
